In the beginning, I believe it all got started because there was too much time spent inside during the month of January. Christmas and three December birthdays as well as New Year’s Eve were over. With one of the warmest winters on record and little to no snow in the mountains, skiing and snowboarding was out. As a family we rallied around the Seahawks on Sundays, otherwise, on the weekends, besides our “power-hour” of chores, boredom set in. We did lots of indoor creative projects and the kids searched up their interests on YouTube.
Our then 10-year old brought up the idea of chickens. At first we were skeptical, but she was persistent, as any kid can be. Before we knew it, plans on coop size and yard space were set.
